Venue

The school will take place at Faculty of Sciences building in Universidad de Cantabria main campus in the coastal city of Santander (Spain).

Accomodation

The school will open on Monday September 2 at 14:30h to allow participants to arrive in the morning and will close on Friday September 13 at 13:30h so that participants can travel back in the afternoon.

Participants are required to book their own accommodation. The University of Cantabria offers several options for lodging, visit this link for further information.

We strongly recommend to contact the Housing Office of the University via email or phone. We will provide contact with other participants to facilitate flat/apartment sharing.

Lunch in working days is included in the registration fee.

We strongly recommend to book and secure your accommodation early on.

Santander is at the north coast of Spain in the region of Cantabria. Santander is embedded in the homonym bay with beautiful landscapes of sea and mountains. The city itself offers six wonderful beaches of fine sand, not to mention the well preserved and protected beaches and natural parks in the region. Cantabria region is renowned for its immense green landscapes and its excellent gastronomy.

How to arrive

Santander Airport:

Santander's airport "Santander-Seve Ballesteros" is located 6 km from the city centre. Every 15 minutes there is a bus from the airport to Santander Bus Terminal. This trip takes 15 minutes. From there you can, 1) spend 20 minutes walking and enjoying the beauties of the city to get to the residence, or 2) take the bus number 5.

Bilbao Airport:

Bilbao's airpot is located 100 km East of Santander but there are more flight companies operating there. To arrive from Bilbao's Airport you can take a bus to "Termibus Bilbao" (Bilbao bus station) and once you are in Termibus take a bus (ALSA group) to Santander (1 hour trip). ALSA bus stops at Santander Bus Terminal from where you can, 1) spend 20 minutes walking and enjoying the beauties of the city to get to the residence or 2) take the bus number 5.

Train/Bus:

Both train and bus stations are located in the city centre, one in front of the other at merely 100 meters distance. From there you can, 1) spend 20 minutes walking and enjoying the beauties of the city to get to the residence, or 2) take the bus number 5.

Weather

The average maximum and minimum temperatures in September in Santander are 24ºC and 15ºC respectivily and the average sea water temperature is 20ºC.
